For several years the artists have been taking pictures of welcome signs – “witacze” – while travelling around Poland. They have consequently archived the photograhs in a catalogue, showing the passing beauty of the signs. The constructions set up at the entrance to each city serve to greet visitors, and encourage them to explore it. They often take form of abstract sculptures and installations. Many of them are decaying. Old and forgotten, they do not fulfll their function of the ornate city gate anymore. Abstract compositions give way to “information” boards.
